Keep Diamond through December 2023

While its very nice of IHG to gift the Diamond status without any kind of stay requirement until the end of the year, you can actually extend it through December 2023 by staying just 10 nights between now and December 31.

Ordinarily, IHG Diamond comes with staying at least 70 nights in a year, so to be able to keep the status for another 12 months with a fraction of that requirement is an amazing deal.

My Experience Registering for IHG Diamond

I have an existing account with IHG. Within minutes of registering for the offer I received an email confirmation for the registration.

A couple of minutes later I received another email advising me of my new IHG Diamond status.

Long time readers of the blog may know that I am mainly loyal to Marriott & Hilton for my hotel stays, so when I first saw this offer I ignored it. Then I remembered I had a stay booked at Intercontinental Hayman Island in March next year where Diamond perks, in particular the free breakfast can come very handy.

Food costs at many of these island properties – where everything has to be shipped-in can be expensive, so it will be nice to wake up in the morning and go for breakfast without worrying about breaking the bank.

Is this Promo worth it

If you stay at IHG properties with any regularity or have any upcoming travel plans where you have not yet booked the accommodation, registering and earning the Diamond status is a no-brainer.

Even if your accommodation is sorted, it might still be worth switching over to IHG if you think you can utilise the status in 2023. In any case, there is no harm in signing-up for the offer and then you have a couple of months to work on your hotel strategy for next year.

In Conclusion

IHG is offering instant Diamond status to anybody who wants it. This is not a targeted promotion and anybody with IHG One Rewards Account can register for it. You can then extend the status all the way to December 2023 by staying 10 nights before the end of 2022.

While hotels often come out with status match and fast track promotions, it is rare to be able to earn the top tier status in a program without any stay requirement whatsoever.
