For a limited time, Qantas Hotels are offering 9 Qantas points per $1 on eligible bookings. The standard earning rate with Qantas Hotels is 3 Qantas points per $1, so this is a good opportunity to scoop-up 3X as many points.

Note that the promotion has already been running for a couple of days and is only valid until 3rd March (coming Friday), so there isn’t a lot of time left if you want to jump on it.

Here’s some important details to be aware of if you wish to participate in the promo :

  • Bookings must be made through Qantas Hotels Portal to be eligible to earn Qantas Points.
  • Only bookings paid with Cash are eligible to earn points, Classic Hotel Rewards, ie, bookings paid with points are excluded.
  • You must finalise all bookings by 11:59 pm (Friday) on 3rd March 2023 and complete travel by 27th February 2024.
  • Points Club members will earn 11.25 Qantas points per $1 (25% bonus) and Points Club Plus members will earn a massive 13.5 Qantas per $1 (50% bonus) on eligible bookings.
  • Bookings made through Qantas Hotels do not earn elite night credits or loyalty points with any Hotel Loyalty Program. So if that’s something you value over earning bonus Qantas points, then this promotion is not for you.

Stack your booking with this Amex Offer

If you were one of the lucky 20,000 Amex cardmembers who saved the below offer to their card, the promotion is potentially much more lucrative for you.

If you are a Points Club Plus member and spend $500 exactly on your hotel booking, paid with a card that has the above Amex Offer saved to it, you will earn 6,750 Qantas points for a net cost of $400. That’s a ginormous return of 16.87 Qantas points per $1.

I know that sounds like an extreme example, but there are many more Points Club Plus members around these days than we imagine, so the point is worth making.

I value Qantas points at 1.5c per point, so earning nearly 17 Qantas points per $1 is like getting 25% back on your spend. Sure that’s not 25% cashback, rather you get 25% back in points. Either way, that is an excellent bang for your buck if you ask me.

Book Fiji Marriott Momi Bay through Qantas Hotels and earn bonus Qantas points

I should point out that the above Amex Offer was capped within a couple of days of opening and is no longer available. So unless you have the offer already saved on your card, it is not possible to get-in on it.

In Conclusion

If you are a free agent and not tied to any hotel program, this is a no-brainer. There is no cap on the number of points you can earn or the number of bookings you can make under the offer. The stay period covers nearly a whole year, meaning you can plan and book multiple stays and pocket the bonus points.

If you hold status with a hotel loyalty program then it might make more sense to book directly with the hotel and earn points and other elite benefits.
