Asia Miles members can earn up to 15% bonus when they convert reward points from partner programs. This is a limited time promotion and registration is essential. Once registered, you have until 12 November 2022 to transfer miles and earn the bonus.

The bonus is tiered;

  • You will earn 10% bonus on up to 29,999 Asia Miles received in your account.
  • You will earn 15% bonus on 30,000 Asia Miles or above received in your account.

Admittedly, a 10-15% bonus is nothing to get too excited about unless you were planning to transfer points to Asia Miles anyway.

Another reason to transfer miles could be to reset the clock on expiration of miles. Generally, Asia Miles have an 18 month expiry, but any account activity such as earning or redeeming miles including transfers is enough to restart the clock.

Which Programs transfer to Asia Miles

In Australia, you can transfer rewards points from the following partners to Asia Miles

Transfers from all 4 Bank Rewards Program are processed in the ratio of 3:1 (3 Rewards Points = 1 Asia Mile). Meanwhile, transfers from Membership Rewards Program offer the best value with a 2:1 transfer ratio (2 Amex MR Points = 1 Asia Mile).

This essentially means that if you are transferring points from any of the Bank Rewards Program, you will need to transfer a minimum of 90,000 Rewards Points to earn the maximum 15% bonus. On the other hand, transferring just 60,000 Amex Membership Rewards Points is sufficient to trigger the 15% bonus.

Top Asia Miles Redemption

A lot of Frequent Flyer Programs, including Asia Miles have undergone devaluation over the last few years. However, Asia Miles have fared better than most and still offers reasonable value.

  • You can fly Cathay Pacific Business Class between any Australian City and anywhere in the world for 85,000 Asia Miles.
  • You can fly Qantas Business Class between Melbourne and Bali (Denpasar) for 30,000 Asia Miles.
  • You can fly LATAM Business Class between Sydney and Santiago for 75,000 Asia Miles.
  • You can fly Cathay Pacific Business Class between Brisbane and Hong Kong for 45,000 Asia Miles.
  • You can fly Finnair Business Class between Bangkok and Helsinki for 61,000 Asia Miles.

In Conclusion

This is the second time we are seeing a transfer bonus promotion from Asia Miles in the last 12 months. Hopefully this is a sign that the program plans to offer them regularly. Like I said, a 15% bonus barely moves the needle and I will not suggest you transfer points speculatively.

But it can be useful if you have a confirmed, near-term plan to redeem Asia Miles or are approaching the 18-month expiry time-line on your miles.
